The manager of a care home in Wiltshire who stole nearly £20,000 from one of her patients has been jailed for 10 months at Swindon Crown Court.
Maria Arthur, who ran the Care Home in Swindon, stole savings and inheritance from Juliet Wylie over a two-year period up to December 2008.
It was only discovered after Ms Wylie's sister went through her accounts.
Judge Douglas Field said Arthur had broken a high degree of trust and stolen from a vulnerable person.
Ms Arthur appeared before the court facing one charge of theft.
'It's despicable'
The court heard Ms Wylie had profound learning difficulties.
The thefts emerged after her death last December.
Speaking after the hearing, Det Insp Tim Corner said: "It's despicable, there is no excuse.
"Maria Arthur has taken advantage of a vulnerable person and profited from it."
No-one from the care home wanted to comment except for to say that the company had helped the police with their investigation into the thefts.
